There you can find all the information you need. Here are the instructions for google classroom directly from the website. Steps to Logging In: 1. Be sure you have reset your password 2. Log in using your email and new password - http://my.fwisd.org 3. Click on "Google Drive" to sign in to your Google Account 4. Visit classroom.google.com to find your class, and click the plus (+) sign in the upper right corner to join with a code. Hey Band!
Welcome to the new and improved Cougar Band website. This project has been in the works for a while now, but with everything going on, it became top priority. This website will be the easiest way for us to not only communicate with you during this time, but also to give you any information you may need. If we end up going into an online learning format, we will be using this site to post links, activities, videos, etc. so that you can easily access it all. UIL Music Skills Each day, count two lines from your UIL Music. Start with the first two lines of one of your UIL Pieces. On the second day count lines 3 and 4. On the third day count lines 5 and 6 and so on. Each day proceed using the following techniques. o Count each line 10 times. o Finger it 10 times. (If you don’t have your instrument, brass and woodwinds can use an empty paper towel roll.) o Say the letter names 10 times. o Sing and finger the rhythm 10 times. o If you have your instrument, Play it 10 times. o Now repeat the same process on your second line of the UIL music. o Continue through your UIL music committing to two or more lines per day. o Do your best to follow your key signature, time signature, accidentals, dynamic markings, style and crescendo – decrescendo. Counting Skills Go to https://www.johnmcallistermusic.com/sight-reading.html o Scroll down to The “Counting It” Series. o Click on “Volume I”. o You will see the exercise has 23 pages. Scroll down until you see your instrument music. (Example: Flutes are on page 12) o Practice counting the entire page. Count this exercise once a day for 4 consecutive days. On the 5 day count it, then play it 3X. Sight-Reading Bootcamp Go to https://www.johnmcallistermusic.com/sight-reading.html and sightread music for your instrument. This is to help prepare students for sight-reading in Region/Honor Band and UIL sight-reading. o Scroll down to Sight-Reading Bootcamp. o Click on “Set I”. o You will see the exercise has 19 pages. Scroll down until you see your instruments music. (Example: Trumpets are on page 16) o Study letter “A” on day one, “B” on day two, “C” on day three, “D” on day four and on day five read A-B-C and D. o Study each exercise for one minute before sight-reading it. Essential Etudes for Band Go to https://www.johnmcallistermusic.com/sight-reading.html and read 5 Essential Etudes. This will help you with combined rest and rhythms. o Scroll down to Essential Etudes for the Full Band. o Click on “Essential Etudes I”. o You will see the exercise has 25 pages. Scroll down until you see your instruments music. (Example: Advanced Snare/Bass Drums are on page 23) o Each day play one Etude. There is a total of 5 Etudes. Practice one etude per day for a total of 5 minutes. After 5 minutes of practice see if you can play through the etude with no mistakes. |
